The statement states that there is only one definition of success, which is to be able to spend your life in your own way. I totally agree with the statement. I believe that true success is only achieved when your heart is happy. Some people think when success is achieved, when you achieve fame or when you are popular. This is a misconception among those people. If one is famous, popular, rich etc. but he is not happy from his heart, then according to me, he is not at all successful. I personally think that by performing a single small task, whatever it may be, if I am happy with that, and then I feel that I am successful and I achieved success by doing my work. Therefore, I think that spending life in one’s own way is the appropriate and a true definition of success.

Firstly, as I believe that spending your life in your own way is true success, I would explain my point with the help of my own experience. During my school days, I used to enjoy playing tennis a lot. I used to win a lot of tournament those days, but at the same time I was failing in my academics. As a result my parents stopped me from playing tennis and started pushing me to concentrate on my exams. After that, I left tennis and started working hard at my studies and finally secured highest marks in my school. But I was not at all happy with my performance, as I was not interested in studies. Then my grandmother understood what is wrong with me. And after discussing my problem, she explained me that you have not gained success in your life, but you have just become popular, if you are not happy with what you have done, and then is not called as success. Furthermore, she said that if you want to achieve true success, you must be happy from your heart and your soul should be happy with that. Since then, I started playing tennis and I feel that I am successful from my heart.

Secondly, if you gain something, being pressurized by someone else, then this achievement cannot be referred to success. Spending life in your own way is the definition of success. But spending life in your own way, being happy, but darkening the lives of others is not success. Some people indulge in the wrong deeds such as robbery, thefts and other crimes, and feel that they have succeeded in their life. Though they have gained happiness and wealth, but it is not pure. Success can be achieved with a pure heart and not with a feeling of hatred. By destroying others life and by living a happy life on the mercy of others is not said as achieving success. According to me, success is achieved when one’s heart is pure and sincere, rather than with envious feelings.

In summary, while there are arguments on both the sides, I feel greater advantages are with the one I stated above, by using examples and experience. Hence, I agree with the statement that there is only one definition of success- to be able to spend your own life in your own way.
