The increasingly rapid pace of life today cause more problems than it solves

Essay topics:

The increasingly rapid pace of life today cause more problems than it solves.

When was the last time you “stop and smell the roses”? Can’t remember? Maybe it is because we are living in such a fast-paced world; things are changing and happening so fast, and the days are just flying by that it seems like we are losing out on time. In today’s increasingly rapid world, this fast-paced lifestyle is causing more problems than it solves.

Living in the fast lane maybe efficient for getting things done, but it can cause stress. In business, of course for making profit, companies need to find ways to create products in a fast and efficient manner. However, in everyday life, I believe we need to slow down once in a while and take the time to view life around us.

One of the problems of living in the fast-paced world can be witnessed on any highways at traffic hour. The endless cacophonies of horn honking and the rage ignites in you when someone cuts you off. If you were to ask any Americans how often they experience road rage, I am positive the answer would be every time they are on the road. It is unavoidable, people in the past couple of decades have been so wired to do everything at the speed-of-light that when certain things cause them to slow down, people become irascible.

Another problem with living in a fast-paced world is, we are not taking the time to enjoy life, because we are always on the go. Again, this goes back to causing stress. We are not taking the time to reflect on ourselves and the problems that we face everyday. Instead, we move on from time because that is what we are wired to do--move forward. Sometimes, back-peddling is needed so that we can reflect on the problem and try to understand it. This way, we would clear our conscience of what is bothering us, and let it go; instead of having it build up in the back of our mind.

In conclusion, I feel that we all need to “stop and smell the roses” once in a while and relief ourselves of this stressful, fast-paced world. If we don’t, it will consume us and rip us to pieces. So take the time to enjoy yourself and the people around you.
