A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.

The author claims that every nation should mandate a common curriculum for students until they join college.Every student should be given equal opportunity for education and also their performance should be fairly judged based on a common criteria.

The proposal for a similar curriculum for all students will be beneficial in terms of evaluating individual performances of each student in a just manner. As students of each grade throughout the nation will be studying the same subjects in their academic courses,it will result in a fair evaluation of their performance. Most of the institutions choose subjects for their students independently without consulting other institutions or having a discussion on the subjects which should be included in the curriculum.Such disparity result in students in different institutions learning subjects which are not similar, and therefore not a equitable evaluation of each student's performance.A national curriculum will obviate this partiality towards students who scored well due to easy courses.

Further,it will also provide students equal opportunity of studying subjects which otherwise would not have been part of their curriculum. As courses for each grade differ on institutional basis, some students are disbarred from courses which otherwise could be beneficial for their future. For example, consider a student who has the talent for arts, but due to no course related to arts being provided in his institution is denied the opportunity of exploring or growing his skill.A similar curriculum will mandate courses which are benefical for each student's development and at the same time provide each of them with equal opportunity of studying those courses.

However,a common curriculum could also hamper a student's growth by restraining him to courses which does not include his choice of subject. For example,a student who wants to learn music, but due to a nation curriculum enforced in his academic course,he will not able to learn subjects which are not included in the study, but are favourable to his future growth.A mandatory curriculum could turn out to be unfair in terms of not including courses which students could have the predilection for learning. But this injustice towards students could be avoided by including elective courses which student can choose based on their skill.

In sum,a national curriculum is beneficial for students,so that no student is unfairly judged and each student avails to the benefiits of a holistic academic learning.
