Some people believe it is imperative for individuals living in developed nations to reduce their energy consumption and lead a more sustainable lifestyle, given the evidence for global climate change. Others believe that such drastic lifestyle changes are unwarranted, based on the existing evidence for global climate change.
Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.
In order to prevent global climatic change it is very necessary for developing countries and developing countries to reduce energy consumption and lead a sustainable life. All the countries have to reduce energy consumption to prevent pollution which causes ozone layer depletion which results in global climatic change. Global climatic change leads to imbalance in eco-system.
Firstly, with the burgeoning population in the world, there is increase in energy consumption by burning of fossil fuels for domestic and industrial purposes. In developed countries industries constitute the main part of economy and there is ever in increase in use of energy. Also, developing nations do have a responsibility to reduce energy consumption. The burning of fossil fuels has to be reduced to prevent pollutions like water, air. These pollutions have resulted in reduction in ozone layer on atmosphere. The ozone layer which present in the stratosphere prevents the entry of UV-B rays from sunlight directly penetrating the earth. In other words it acts as filter when transmitting sun rays to the earth. If the UV-B rays directly enter it causes skin cancer to humans. Due to increase in air pollution, the layer of ozone has been deteriorated and the scientists have found holes in ozone layer which causes change in climate.
The global climate change results in impairment of weather conditions on earth. The summers are very hot and winters are too cold and no sufficient rainfall during rainy seasons. The global climate change result is flood and famine. The global climate change leads to imbalance in ecosystem and leads to extinction of certain species of flora and fauna. So it is very necessary to prevent pollution which causes ozone layer depletion, which in turn causes global climate changes. In most developed countries people live lavish life also it is responsibility of every nation to save energy; they have to save energy by using public transportation and turn off lights when not in use. In order to prevent pollution alternate source of energy have to use like solar energy, wind energy, hydroelectricity instead of burning of fossil fuel for generating electricity.
Proponents of ice age theory may argue that global climatic change may be due to change in cold temperature by glaciers. One glacier may contribute to many glaciers due to fact the glacier reflects the sun rays and causes cold temperature. This is a theory and it may be the cause or not. But still by reducing energy consumption can decrease pollution and have cleaner air and water for the future generation.
To sum up, the energy consumption has to be decreased to prevent pollution, ozone layer depletion which are major causes global climate change. Other alternate source of energy for decreasing pollution like wind mills, solar energy, etc. have to be used to save the planet. It is responsibility of every nation to decrease use of energy and lead a sustainable life for preventing global climate change.
