men and women are not equally suited for many tasks
The debate on whether men and women are equal has been going since ages. And it is justified to be so given that there is no easy answer for it. While come point out the inherent physical differences for advocating inequality, others contend that both the genders are equally capable and one gender is not above the other. The prompt suggests that due to their innate physical differences, man and women are not equally suited for many tasks. I agree with the prompt but also hedge my support for the following reasons.
Firstly, it is a bald fact that there are intrinsic physical differences between men and women. Men usually have more muscular body and physical strength. They also possess more mettle than women usually do to perform daunting tasks. This makes them well suited for tasks that are laborious in nature or tasks that are precarious. However, men are not as emotional as women. This makes men less suited for jobs that require emotional understanding. On the other hand, women have high emotional intelligence and can easily understand what other person feels like. This characteristic of women makes them well suited for jobs related to hospitality and caring. It is not possible for men to replace women in such services and provide the customers the same comfort that woman do. Such an attempt by men would in fact turn out to be futile. Therefore, as one can see, the inherent physical differences between men and women make them suited to only a subset of task. However, in the present world, with the change in the kind of jobs as well as with the proliferation of variegated jobs, it would be considered fatuous to assume that men and women are not equally suited for many tasks.
In the present world, with the technological boom, most of the jobs require intellectual capabilities rather than physical capabilities. And there is no such claim or evidence proclaiming that one gender is intellectually superior than other. Thus, it is important to mention that while there are jobs which are not equally suited to both the genders, there are even more jobs that are equally suited to both the genders. For instance, let us consider the jobs in the field of Information technology, Banking, Retail etc. The jobs in these fields and the like would require astute personnel and both the genders are equally capable critical thinking. Therefore, there are quite a number of jobs that are equally suired for both men and women.
To recapitulate, there are jobs that are not equally suited for both men and women due to the inherent nature of the jobs as well as the innate differences in men and women. However, there also jobs that are equally suited
