The table describes the underground railway system in six metropolises.
A glance at the table shows that London underground railways is the oldest and the longest. It was opened in the year 1863, covers 394 kilometres and carries 775 commuters each year. However, Tokyo underground railway system which started in the year 1927 covers less than half the distance (155km) of that of London railways, but transports more than double passengers (1927 million)to that of it. Similarly, Paris tube way which was inaugurated in the year 1900 and covered 199 kilometre, conveyed 1191 million travellers.
The graph also shows that Washington D.C underground railway was opened in the year 1976, and transported 144million passengers’ each year in a range of 126 kilometres. However, Kyoto and Los Angeles tube system which were opened in the year 1981 and 2001 respectively, covered only 11 kilometres and 28 kilometres. While, the former carried 45 million passengers each year, the latter with more than double the distance covered commuted only around 10% more passengers(50 million)from that of Kyoto railway system.
To sum up, it is clear that number of travellers is not proportionate to the distance covered.
It is clear with conclusions! you can get 7.5 out of 9.0.
