Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant
The two pie charts compare the expenses of an average household in a country between 1950 and 2010. Overall, housing was the highest item of expenditure in 1950, whereas in 2010 an average family spent most of its income on food.
It can be clearly seen from the charts that food and transportation were the two major categories where household expenditure increased by a large extent. On the other hand, the amount of money spent by an average family on housing fell significantly from 74% in 1990 to 22% in 2010.
People preferred to spend more on food in 2010 which was more than one third of total household expenditure in comparison to 1990 when only 11% of the total earning was spent for food. Similarly, a average family spent approximately four times more in transportation in 2010 than in 1990.
Health care and education are the two sectors where the expenses did not show any notable change. The expenses on healthcare rose by 2% over this 30 year period of time, however the amount of money spent for education in 2010 remained the same as 1990.
Expenditure on other purposes experienced a dramatic increase from 4% to 19% within this time period.
