The graphs give information about the change of the amount of Japanese tourists and the corresponding proportion that travel to Australia from 1985 to 1995.
The total amount of Japanese travelers kept an upward trend throughout that period, rising from 5 million in 1985 to 11 million in 1990. After a slight dip in 1991, the figure continued growing and by the end of 1995, the Japanese tourists were three time more than it was 10 years ago.
According, the Australia’s reception of Japanese tourist showed a similar increasing trend. In 1985, there were only 2 percent Japanese tourist chose to go to Australia. Since then, the percentage climbed continuously to just below 5 in 1988. After a light shrink in 1989, it picked up the growth and peaked at 6.2 percent in 1993. In 1994, Australia witnessed a light drop in the Japanese traveller.
Overall, an increasing number of Japanese travelled abroad during 1985 to 1995 and those whose chose to go to Australia is also increasing with a fluctuation in 1990s.
