Bar Chart Owned and Rented Households
The chart illustrates the households owning and renting living place in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011; all data are presented in percentage.
Overall, while we can see negative trend in rented accommodation between 1918 and 2011, there is positive co-relation in owned living place for the same period.
The percentage share of households in owned accommodation was kept on increasing till 2001, and small drop of approximate 5% in 2011 for the same category. However, no change in owned accommodation between 1939 and 1953, which remained same at a percentage share of 32%.
In contrast, the people living in rented places were decreasing since 1918 until 2001, and saw a slight increase of 3% in 2011 compare to last sample data i.e. in 2001. Like household in owned accommodation, the household in rented accommodation did not changed between 1939 to 1953; but the share of rented places were much higher that owned accommodation from the same period. Interestingly, the percentage share of both category was same in 1971.
