The chart below gives information about the age of women in Australia when they gave birth to their first child in 1966 1986 and 2006

The given bar chart compares the proportion of women in five different age brackets who had their first child in Australia in three separate years (1966, 1986 and 2006).
Overall, it can be seen that Australian women tended to give birth to their first child later in life. In addition, 30-34 age group became the most popular option for women having the first child, while those over 40 recorded the lowest figures in all three years.
Turning to the chart for details, in 1966, the majority of Australian women gave birth to their first child, with about 63%, which dropped dramatically to roughly 28% in 2006. The percentage of people under 19 also decreased three times during the same time. Despite a little dip in 1986, the proportion of older women having their first child increased more slowly, from 3% in 1966 to about 5% in the final year.
Regarding other groups, starting at second place with about 36% in 1986, the proportion of women who were 25 to 30 giving birth to their child grew considerably to 50% before falling suddenly to 38% in 2006. Meanwhile, those aged 30 to 34 initially rose only to 13% before reaching a peak of 45% in 2006. The figure for the 34-3939 age bracket also climbed enormously from 8% to 30%.
