The chart below shows annual average spending on clothes per person in the US in 1985 1995 and 2005

The bar chart provides information about how much money that each person spent on four types of clothes in the US in three different years.
In general, it is clear that clothes for girls and women experienced an upward trend over the period shown.
Moreover, the number of women's clothes recored the most dramaic change in the three remaning types.
In the first year, the amount of money spent on boys and girls clothes was equal, around $100. After that, the spending on boys’ clothes increased slightly to just around 105 dollars per person in 1998 and remained stable in the next ten years. At the same time, the clothing expenses on girls’ clothes in this country experienced a continual rise to approximately 160 dollars per person in 2005.
In comparison, the spending on clothes for males was much slower than the figure for females, at about 300 dollars and 500 dollars respectively. The amount of money spent on men's clothes had a fluctuation during the period of time. In the following decade, the expenditure on men’s clothing went up noticeably to nearly 420 dollars after which it slowly failed to 20 dollars. While men's clothes expenses decrease, the figure for women's one saw a dramatic growth to reach its peak of over 600 dollars in the last year.
