The chart below shows the movement of people from rural to urban areas in three countries and predictions for future years.

The line graph provides and projects information on the rural people’s movement tendency to urban areas in 3 different countries namely Iran, Indonesia and Russia in a 25-year period starting from 2000.

From an overall perspective, more and more Iranians, Indonesians and Russians decided to move to nonrural areas. This trend is predicted to continue in the next 5 years. Another noticeable point is that the number of moving people in Iran appears to be the highest among the three.

In terms of Indonesia, in 2000 the number of people recorded moving to towns was slightly under 10 million. Following that, this figure sequentially surged until 2020, climaxing at the vertex of 30 million before being forecasted to remain stable for half of the decade.

Turning to Iran and Russia, both countries share the same upward pattern in the trend of urban migrants, starting with roughly 8 and 14 million, correspondingly. Subsequently, they both experienced a dip and a slump, however, in different timelines. To be specific, the former for Iran and Russia took place in 2005 to approximately 7 million and 2010 to nearly 35 million, respectively, while the latter was in 2010 to one-third of 100 million and in 2015 to slightly above 70 million. Both tendencies are predicted to progressively rise in the near future, to 80 million in Russia and more than 90 million in Iran.
