The pie chart illustrates the proportion of different activities done by maturities a day in one country between 1958 and 2008.
What stands out from the graph is that there were two opposite trends. While working, traveling to work and relaxing at home had a tendency of doing up, going out with friends and family and sleeping witnessed a downward trend. In addition, sleeping and working were the main activities of adult people in one day in both of the years.
In 1958, starting at a quite high point, the percentage of working hours ranked the first at 33%, followed by the data of sleeping hours and going out with friends and family at 32% and 19% respectively. Over the period of 50 years, working was still the activity with the highest percentage of adults at 42% in a day and bounced to a fourth. By contrast, the rate of sleeping and going out with friends or family experienced a downward trend to 25% and 6% respectively during the same period..
Turning to the other three activities, Traveling to work accounted for 2% in 1958. However, this figure leapt substantially to 8% which was four times higher. Similarly, relaxing at home activity experienced the same upward trend from 8% to 13%. The figure for other activities like hobbies or playing sports stayed the same throughout the period shown.
