The given bar graph depicts the proportion of households comparing rental and owned housing in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011.
To begin with, rented housing was recorded as the highest ratio in 1981 with just below 80% and started decreasing. Similarly, in 1939 and 1953, it was at the equal level by roughly 78%, while in 1961, it declined by approximately 10%. By the 1971, by decreasing around 9%, it reached at the same level of owned housing percentage and declining trend was continue with roughly 10% in every given timeline. However, in 2011, the chart gradually climbed by nearly 4% and reached up to roughly 35%.
In term of owned accommodation, 1981 was recorded as the lowest with just above 20%. Afterward, it hiked slightly and reached above 30% in 1939 and 1953, again it increased by approximately 8% in 1961. Furthermore, we can see the noticeable increase in ratio from 1971 to 2001with 50% to nearly 70%. However, in 2007 the ratio slightly went to downward and accounted as roughly 65%.
Overall, as shown in the chart, the households in owned accommodation are in increasing ratio and households of rental housing are in decreasing trend.
