The chart below shows the total number of minutes(in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.
The bar graphs illustrate the total number of minutes used by UK residents to make calls using three different modes, over a period of seven years.
Overall, it is clearly evident that, during the entire stated time period, the highest number of call duration was by domestic land line users. Cellular phones, however, were least popular amongst all, but their use was increased drastically during last few years.
During 1995, around 70 billion minutes were used by domestic fixed line users, while just about half of this duration was allocated on fixed line country wide and world wide calls(just over 35 billion minutes). However, just around 3 billion minutes were used by cell phone users.
There is an increasing trend observed in the call duration of all three groups up until 1999, where domestic fixed line figures touched the highest point of the graph(90 billion minutes). After which it saw a period of decline until 2002(around 70 billion minutes). There was a dramatic rise in the popularity of mobile phones up until 2002 where the values tripled(around 45 billion minutes) in the last three years. While just over 60 billion minutes was used by the people to make nation wide and global calls using a landline phone.
