The chart shows the number of international students from four different countries applyingfor universities in a European country from the year 2004 to 2008.

The bar chart compares the percentages in terms of the number of international students from four countries between 2004 to 2008.

It’s clear that the number of Chinese students were generally decreasing over four-year period, while America saw an increasingly growth from 2004 to 2008. Students coming from Japan were the number three popular international students in Europe, and Russia’s future remained at the lowest level during the whole time.

In 2004, there were around 27,500 students from China to European universities, however the number fell by approximately 12,5000 people by 2008. American students took over China and became the major group since 2006, nearly 18,000 students in these two countries respectively. Applicants from U.S.A reached to a peak at 27,500 in 2008, the same as the figure seen in China in the year 2004.

People from Japan, as the third largest group, were merely as much as the number of American’s in 2004, with about 6,000, and slightly increased to 10,000 in the year 2008. The figures of Russia remained the same level at average 2,500 at all times, contributing the least proportion overall.
