It is clear that, India had a younger population compared to which of France, with a noticeably larger proportion of people aged under 20. On the other hand, France had a significantly larger percentage of elderly inhabitants.
In India, almost 14% of population were aged from 0 to 5, and each five-year age bracket above this contained an increasingly smaller proportion of the population. By contrast, France’s population were more evenly distributed across the age ranges, with the percentages of each five-year cohorts of citizens under 40 fluctuate between 7% and 8 %. About 15% of French people were over 70 whereas this pattern of age in India was only 4%.
Looking further in gender aging structure, French women were more likely to had a longer life expectancy than men. For example, almost 3% women were 75 and older whereas the figure for men was just over 1%. India, on the other hand, was quite balance in their age structure when it was divided by gender.
