Essay topics:

The charts below show the percentage of volunteers by organizations in 2008 and 2014.

The pie charts illustrate proportions of those volunteering in different organizations in the years 2008 and 2014.

The most noticeable trend is for increasingly higher percentages of volunteers to be represented by people working in education, health care and unspecified fields, while the opposite is true for the other 3 categories.

In 2008, nearly one quarter of the total volunteers were from environmental organizations, followed by the figure for those in education and art (21% and 18%, respectively). Sport and unspecified areas attracted the same proportion of volunteers , at 15% each, which was more than double the percentage of health care.

6 years later, noticeable increases were recorded for the figures of education (by 8% to nearly 30%) and the ‘others’ category (by 10% to exactly a fourth). Growing by a humble 1% to 8%, health care volunteers still constituted the smallest percentage across the board. By contrast, the figure for environmental organizations dropped by 7% whereas a decline of 6% was seen in those volunteering in both sport and health care.
