The diagram below show the development of the horse over a period of 40 million years The evolution of the horse with particular emphasis on the changing foot structure

The diagram presents the evolution of a horse which mainly happens on the structure of its foot. Overall, the evolution along with the change in the horse’s name and body commenced about 40 million years ago. It is obvious that over time, the foot structure becomes thicker and higher.
Forty million years earlier, a horse was called an eohippus, which was a mini-scale one compared with a modern horse. An eohippus’s foot was constructed by small bones and nails which became bigger and stronger in the next 10 million years when its name changed to Mesohippus.
In the following 15 million years, the Mesohippus was then named Merychippus. A merychippus has a medium foot structure with shorter nails and middle finger in comparison with a mesohippus. Additionally, a meryhippus was also taller in height and bigger in shape. In the modern world, this feature is finally called a horse, which has a round-shape and high-heel-liked foot structure as well as a much more robust body.
