The figure illustrates the process followed by Australian Bureau of Meteorology to produce weather forecasts.
It is clear that the production of weather forecasts consists of four main stages. Overall, the information is collected from many sources at the beginning, after being analysed and prepared, it is broadcasted on various kinds of multimedia.
At the first and second stage of making weather broadcasts, the most recent information is received by three ways and then is analysed also in three ways. Firstly, incoming information can be received by satellite and then presented for analysis as satellite photo. The same data can be passed to radar and presented on radar screens or synoptic charts for analysis. Secondly, incoming information can be directly received by radar and analysed on radar screens or synoptic charts. Finally, drifting buoy can also collect information which can be shown on synoptic charts for analysis.
The process continues with preparing for the broadcast using computers. At the final step, trustworthy weather forecasts now can be brought to public on TV newsreader program, on radio and on recorded telephone announcement.
