The diagram illustrates the process of development of a salmon in which it emerges and becomes an adult fish.
Overall, it is apparent that the life cycle of a salmon consists of total eight stages that commences at the incubation stage and culminaties in the migration period.
To begin with, the adult salmons start spawning eggs , which will be kept in incubation. After some time, the emergence takes place in which the eggs hatch, and new salmon fish come into world. Subequently, the baby salmons travel to freshwater for the rearing purposes. This is the last stage which takes place in the river.
Next, the estuary rearing process happends, in which baby salmons move from the river to the ocean. Within the ocean, the salmons migrate to rearing areas before attaining growth and maturation. Ultimately, they commence migrating back to spawning areas into the river where they lay eggs. In this way, the process starts anew.
