In a deeper analyses, we can see a threefold decline of the number of elephants in Malaysia and Thailand with about 3 thousand in Malaysia and 3,5 thousand in Thailand in 1997 and approximately 1 thousand in 2004. Also, China where the amounts of elephants was estimated as low as thousand animal, it had declined twice in 7-year period.
To sum up, although the overall trend appeared to be downward, the only country where the population of Asian elephants showed the sides of recovering.
