The graph illustrates changes in the quantities of beef, lamb, chicken and fish consumed in one European nation from 1979 to 2004.
Overall, it can be seen that the consumption of chicken rose enormously, while the usage of the other food types decreased over the period given.
In 1979, beef was the most popular type of meat, with about 225 grams eaten per individual weekly. Lamb and chicken were used in nearly similar amount at round 150 grams, while much less fish was consumed at just over 50 grams. However, during the course of 25 years, the consumption of beef and lamb fell dramatically to approximately 100 grams and 55 grams respectively. The consumption of fish also declined but only very slightly.
On the other hand, the consumption of chicken grew considerably, overtaking that of lamb in 1980 and that of beef in 1989. By 2004, it had rocketed to almost 250 grams per person per week.
