The line chart gives information about consumers' average yearly spending on mobile phone and residential phone services in the US from 2001 to 2010.
It is clear that while the figures for cell phone services showed an upward trend, the opposite was true for residential phone services.
As can be seen from the chart, at the beginning of the period, people spent nearly $700 on residential phone services as opposed to only $200 on cell phone services. In the following year, the proportion of money spent on cell phone services climbed by $100. By contrast, US people spent less on residential ones, at $630.
Over the next 4-year-period, the figures for cell phone services continued to soar to approximately $550 in 2006. The comparable amount of money spent on residential phone services was registered in the same year. In the last four years of the period, the data of cell phone services surged and peaked at $750 in 2010. In contrast, that of residential ones experienced a downward trend, hitting the lowest point at $400.
