The line graph below shows the production of paper, wood pulp and sawn-wood in the UK from 1980 to 2000.
The line graphs illustrate the amount of three different materials of forest industry produced over the course of 20 years, starting in 1980. Units are measured in million tonnes.
Overall, it is clear that the production of paper and packaging accounted for the biggest change out of those categories. Sawn-wood and wood pulp experienced a downward trend throughout the given period, and sawn-wood recorded the most dramatic decrease in the two remaining types of materials.
In 1980, the manufacture of paper and packaging was around 230 million tonnes. The figures for sawn-wood and wood pulp were lower, at about 200 million tonnes and 160 million tonnes respectively. In 1990, the quantity of paper rose to nearly 250 million tonnes, while the numbers for both products of forest industry fell by 150 million tonnes in the same year.
By 2000, the production paper and packaging was the highest, its figure spiked by 100 million tonnes, compared to approximately 125 million tones sawn-wood and 152 million tonnes wood pulp in turn.
