The maps below show an industrial area in the town of Norbiton, and planned future development of the site.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two maps compare the current layout of an industrial site with its projected design. Overall, the blueprint of the town desires to alter the function of the specific area in town, from an industrial area to a mere multifunctional complex.
Presently, the industrial area which lies on the south bank of the river opposite to the farm consists of eight factories. There are three factories circling the traffic island, and five factories along the straight road through the area. Moreover, a main road is located in the south, and the town lies on the western side of the site.
Turning to the proposed design, it indicates that all factories would be removed with building blocks of various functions replacing them. Five residential buildings would be constructed on the previous industrial site, with a new branch road building leading out from the traffic island. Shops and hospitals would be constructed at the entrance to the site from the main road. In addition, a school and a playground would be added. Apart from the changes in the industrial area, a new bridge would be constructed to connect the two sides of the river. The farmland would be relocated slightly to the east, leaving space for the construction of a new housing block.
