Online sales for retail sectors in New Zealand
The pie charts elucidate the proportion of online for travel, film or music, books and clothes in New Zealand in two selected years (2003 and 2013).
It is apparent that the sales of film/music and books in this country had increased over 10 years whereas travelling and clothing sectors were on the contrary position. In addition, travel and film and music took the largest portion of New Zealand’s total online sales in two different years.
In 2003, 36% of the total sales were related to the travel sector, which was the major online sale of that year. However, this figure dropped by 7% to reach at the second biggest portion of the total online sales in New Zealand by 2013. The second major sales contributed by clothes sectors, which accounted for 24% of overall sales in 2003 and by 2013, it fell to 16%.
Film and music made the third largest percentage of the overall sales in 2003 (21%) whereas in 2013, the figure rose to 33% which reached the highest sales. The similar trends can be found in the case of books where it rose slightly from 19% to 22% in 2003 and 2013, respectively.
