In spite of the advances made in agriculture many people around the world still go hungry Why is this the case What can be done about this problem

Even though there are many developments have been taken place in the field of agriculture, the problems related to hunger has not been eradicated completely. There are a variety of possible reasons for this; however, steps can definitely be taken to tackle the problem.

To commence with, there are myriad reasons behind this issue. One of the most prominent reasons is the overstaking. Wealthy businessmen stock the large amount of stock in their godowns in order to create a shortage of food in the market. When the food of the price is increased then they sell their stacks at higher price to get high profit. Hence, people who live below poverty line are not able to buy food at such high prices. Another point to consider is that the lack of infrastructure. For example, in India, after green revolution there is not a problem for food shortage. However, due to poor road conditions food can not be reached on time to people who are living in remote areas. Similarly, due to lack of cold storage food items can not be stored for long time and it leads to the wastage of food.

There are plethora of ways which can be implemented by government to eradicate this problem. First of all, government should impose stringent laws against the overstaking of food. Thus, it would help to prevent from man made price fluctuations. Apart from that, states should run the public awareness program to make the people aware about the importance of the food and motivate them not to waste food products. Lastly, authorities should give the boost in creating the infrastructure for storing the food for long time and connect the remote areas with all weather roads to ensure that food will come on time.

In conclusion, although there are many reasons for the starvation, some crucial methods can be taken by governments to eradicate this problem.
