The table represents data about independent movies released in the UK in 2012.
Overall, drama and documentary genre accounted for the highest proportion of movie releases, however, most significant income was generated from the genre ‘comedy’.
As the graph shows, 26 comedy films were released in the UK in 2012 which generated about 45.4% of income from its tickets. Even though drama and documentary movies represented 23.6% individually, the profit made from the sale of tickets was only 8.3% and 2.9% respectively. In terms of horror and thriller films, their number of releases were relatively similar which was 14 for horror and 13 for thriller. However, income from the sale of horror movies was relatively higher than the thriller movies, at 20.2%.
On the other hand, only 1 biopic movie was released in the year 2012 which surprisingly accounted for 9.1% of total profit. With regard to crime movies, the production of 7 movies hardly represented 4.7% of income. Likewise, the release of 5 romance movies only made 0.8% income as compared to action movies at 4.1%. Lastly, 8 other genre of films were produced but was only able to generate revenue of no more than 3.2%.
