The table compares Canada, Germany, and the UK in terms of the number of elderly people with ages from 65 in two years 1988 and 2000, and the projection for 2030.
It is clear that all countries have seen the increasing popularity of the senior aged 65 and more over the period shown. Overall, Germany had a larger percentage of the population falling into this group of ages than others and is expected to remain the first rank in 2030.
In 1988, the residents aged 65 and above occupied 20.45% of German, compared to 16.32% of Canadian and 14.23% of British. Both Germany and Canada experienced a remarkable increase in the proportion of senior citizens, by 4.87%, and 4.35% respectively, while the figure for the UK seemed to remain stable, rising insignificantly by a mere 0.66%.
Relating to the 2030's prediction, the percentage of old people is predicted to be highest in Germany with approximately a third of the population. The second position belongs to Canada despite its largest projected rise of 5.68%, followed by the UK, whose rate numbers 20.35%.
