Dear R,
I’m so delighted to have received your letter. It has been a while since we last catched up and I’m happy to know that you have finally decided to reward yourself with a much deserved vacation. You desperately need some good old relaxation and a getaway trip after long months of hectic work. Since you have asked for my recommendation, I highly suggest that you visit the land of rising sun, Japan.
If you’re planning to take a leave in December, it would be lovely to travel to Tokyo and its neighboring towns. By that time, winter is just about to start and the weather in the capital city will just be mildly cold at about 10’C to 16’C. However, the northern towns will already be freezing ice cold. Coming from a tropical country as ours, I’m sure you have been dreaming of white Christmas and surely you can have an experience of that in Gala Yuzawa Ski Resort. It’s located in Niigata Perfecture which is more or less two hours northeast of the capital by bullet train. Other than the popular skiing, you can also try other winter sports such as snowboarding and sleighing in the town’s powder snow covered alpine slopes. I also highly suggest that you stay there for a night or two and check-in in a traditional Japanese accommodation locally called ryokan onsen where you can have a relaxing hot spring bath after an action packed day in the apres. You don’t need to worry about bringing a skimpy bikini to flaunt because going butt naked is the thing there.
I’ll be glad to help you with planning a detailed itinerary should you decide to go in Japan. Honey, next time please don’t write me a letter, you’re such an old school. Give me a ring at my new mobile number, 091786855xx. Perhaps we can have an afternoon coffee at our favorite cafe.
I’m looking forward to hearing your yes for some latte and sweet pastries. See you soon.
Love,
T
