Archeological artifacts
In this set of materials, the writer strongly postulates that exploration and discovery of archeological findings encounter huge obstacles in the United Kingdom, and provides three reasons to endorse its idea. On the other hand, the professor states that since 1990, establishment of guidelines improved the past situation and changed the previous scenarios and gainsays each of the arguments mentioned in the reading.
First and foremost, the passage begins by asserting
that due to the advancement of society many construction projects were initiated, which had not only caused the demise of rare artifacts but also damaged the recently discovered archeological sites. Nonetheless, the lecture maintains that now before starting any construction project, the construction sites are carefully examined. If the sites hold valuable findings, the local government officials make plans to save them by building and excavating them. Moreover, complete documentation of the sites is started.
Next, the professor in the lecture further points out that government findings are ruled out in new guidelines, as the construction companies mostly play a major role in supporting the financial costs, to preserve the historical artifacts. These companies pay for the constructions, initial examinations, and all the working processes. This really extends the research projects to a far greater range of sites. These claims refute the writer’s implication that only the government is responsible for the provision of the funding which really restricts the research to limited sites only. That is because financial support is not adequate to carry out archeological research projects.
Ultimately, the article wraps its arguments by declaring that a career in Archeology is not only limited but also not well established. The speaker in the listening rebuts this point by
insisting that things are progressively improved by the provision of paid work to archeologists. Many more job opportunities in archeology fields are available now. Archeologists are hired for making preservation plans, doing scientific research, and writing reports. All in all, the Archeology profession is now regarded highest than ever before.
