comics
The reading and the lecture are both about comics book, and if the origins of this gender. The controversy it’s about if comics are uniquely american art form or not, the reading presents his opinion and the audio presents an opposite idea about the text.
First of all, the author of the reading points out that are a uniquely American art form, and that is his central point showing us a few examples like Hogan’s Alley, or another much knoledge: Action Comic with his main character, Superman. Then our author speaks about that the Americans invented comic strips, and export this unique of art form to the world.
This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that the comics are not uniquely american. Even refute Hogans alley was not the first comic book succes, was the first cartoon character, later the audio says in England and Switzerland the comics was a few popular, so this influence from american author comics book would be a wrong look of the reading.
Secondly, the author contends that Disney comics are very popular in Europe, even says Disney comics has an influence over european comics and are more popular than ever. The lecturer rebuts this argument, and all of the example from the reading, Smurfs are an european comic book with an european style, for example, even he present a last example with Superman, to says, “Joe Shuster (the creator of Superman) it’s from Canada, not from United Stated”
Finally, the reading states that the comics are a uniquely american, and are reconized like an a truly american art. The lecturer, on the other hand, posits that the comics are not uniquely american it belongs to the whole world
