Historically, schools in the US have borrowed the European system of school organization, a system that separates students into grades by chronological age. In general, children begin formal schooling at the age of six in what is referred to as the first

The reading and the lecture are both about the graded the system of education. The author of the passage believes that the graded system of school organisation and its efficiency. However, the lecturer casts doubt on the reading by claiming that the different academic level of graded school system is not consistent with the differences in the understanding level of students.

Firstly, the author of the passage points that this schooling begins at the age of 5 and are categorized into 12 grades .she states that if the students doesn't meet the minimum requirements they have to repeat the course again. This is contradicted by the lecturer . He argues that the children physical and mental development vary tremendously as they proceed through the teen age yet all are being put together. He posits that this system fails to take into account the maturity differences.

Secondly, the author contents at hat the intermediate schooling level is taught by subject wise and is viewed as as a preparatory for high school. This IS CHALLENGED BY THE LECTURER.he asserts that the individual capability of students are not taken care instead its the group activities focused here. as such its not the actual learning involved and consequently the students get bored and drop off.

Thirdly, the author suggests that the secondary schooling is taught by the subject specialist for only fifty minutes. Additionally, the end of twelve grades the students are prepared for high school education. This is being rebutted by the lecter. She elaborates this by stating that group expectation is only assessed and individual measurement is not done.
