Both passage and lecture are regarding possibility of maintaining human presence on Venus. Although author clarifies disadvantages that may be encountered on Venus, lecturer contradicts it by claiming some resolution to that particular problems.
Firstly, author accentuates that atmospheric pressure on Venus is 90 times greater comparing to earth's, which may lead to certain problems, such as all the items or spacecrafts that are landed may be damaged or even destroyed . On the other hand, lecturer elaborates solution that might be made concerning this topic. He declares that people can establish station that is 50 km above the surface, and pressure at that level is roughly equal to those on Earth.
Secondly, according to the author, there is not specific water reservoirs on Venus, so water has to be transported from Earth to Venus, which is quite problematic. However, lecturer asserts that indeed establishing station 50 km above surface could have again engender to solution. Moreover, lecturer holds the statement that using the elements that are prevalent on Venus, some reactions that results in water can be conducted.
Thirdly, author emphasize the point that very little sunlight reaches the surface, and 60 percent of the sunlight that reaches is reflected by thick clouds that exist on atmosphere. That being said, lecturer opposes this idea by presenting counterargument that cloud that are spread on 50 km above the surface aren't thick comparing to those at lower levels, so station may absorb or collect the sunlight that reaches surface or reflected back.
