The article states that maintaining humans on Venus planet would be impractical as well as impossible. It provides three reasons for this support. The professor of the lecture claims that it may be challenging to maintaining humans on Venus but not impossible. He also refutes all the reasons and gives alternative solutions by saying that making a station above 50km above could solve all challenges.
Firstly, the reading avers that the atmospheric pressure of Venus is too much higher than earth. Therefore, every spacecraft would be crushed because of the high pressure on the surface of the planet. On the contrary, the professor says that it will be not a problem if the human station will be above 50km. In the above, the pressure will be the same as the pressure of the earth. So, no spacecraft will be in danger of having any crushed.
Secondly, the author posits that the Venus atmosphere, consisted of various gas like sulfuric acid, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and there is no water and oxygen which are the most important things to human life. On the other hand, the lecture rebuts that by saying that some chemical processes can be run to obtain oxygen, hydrogen from carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid. After that, it can be preceded to make water from that. Hence, there will be no need to provide water and oxygen from earth.
Finally, the passage states that sunlight will not available to much to use solar machines and equipment. The reflection of thick clouds and dense layers of carbon dioxide will reduce the power of sunlight. But, the speaker also contends that by stating that the clouds will not be so much thick on the 50km top of the surface. And the station would be able to use the reflect sunlight as well as direct for solar machines and for other equipment.
