The reading passage and the listening are both about the Rococo style. The article of the passage explains that the Rococo style was has lost their popularity and the style has been ridiculed and provides three reasons for support. However, in the lecture, the professor says that this critic is a one-sided view refutes all the reasons provided by the article.
First, the reading passage posits that in the late eighteenth century , the rococo styles ignored the working class and they only worked for the ruling class which shows arrogance and vanity. In contrast, the lecturer rebuts it by mentioning that roboco style also worked for the churches which represent every class of people.
Second, the article asserts that robocon art work was not based on serious subect matter and these art was more based shalow topic such as playing games in courtyard and the lover's picnic. On the other hand , the professor counters it by saying that Roboco style work was focused on feeling and imotion. She elaborated on this by bringing up the example of a painting of three people , she says that it was sensitive and sophisticate work which really shows the emotions.
Finally , the passage claims that roboco art was very gaudy and it was not a piece of insipiration at all. They mostly used unnecessary costly materials for their art. Article e also notes that the use of light and color was inappropriate. On the contrary, the professor believe that rococo art was a like a pioneer. Thye did experiment with the color and the lights to make the unique art nothing is wrong in that.
