Moreover, it argues that people are not looking for alternatives to traditional farming, such as hydroponics, which has more benefits.

Second, the writer claims deforestation allows society to have enough residential areas for the continuously increasing population and people to have jobs, such as investment and construction. On the other hand, the professor firmly thinks that people are looking at short-term benefits rather than long-term consequences since deforestation signifies plants and animals that inhabit the region that will become extinct or in danger due to habitat loss. On top of that, the lecturer points out that plants produce most of the oxygen humans need for survival.

Third, the text explains that it is an integral part of national economies and nations, for instance, Brazil, Thailand, and Indonesia, which rely on deforestation as a source of income. The writer notes that individuals work hard to satisfy the demand for paper, furniture, and other resources. In contrast, the audio describes how individuals do not earn much and are risking their lives to carry out dangerous jobs, which gives greater good to the authorities.

To sum up, although both sources discuss the same topic, deforestation, it is evident that they conclude with different views and details. With this in mind, it will be difficult for both to find common ground on the matter, and the flaws pointed out by the professor effectively challenge the author that they thought too narrow-mindedly about the issue.
