task 1
The reading proposes that replacement hydrogen-based fuel-cell instead of oil power engine has some advantages. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
The author argues that due to the fact that hydrogen cannot end up. Also, it is an available and renewable source as opposed to petroleum. .Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that that Hydrogen is not easily available .although it is found in water, but it cannot be used directly. First, hydrogen must be purred and turn to the liquid state. This is an artificial substance. Hence, the technology needed to produce it is difficult. It cannot be in a cold temperature. Therefore, it is needed elaborated technology. So, it is not practical and available.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that hydrogen-based fuel cells solve pollution problems due to the fact that it can produce water. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that although this fuel-cell does not produce pollution but producing pure hydrogen produces lot pollutions. Factories purring hydrogen need lots of energy. They burn coal and oil to get this energy. So burning these materials make pollution. Although cars do not pollute, factories polluted the air.
Finally, the reading asserts that this fuel-cell is economic and people spend less money on it. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that for manufacturing hydrogen factories need platinum metal which is the expensive one. Without it, manufacturing hydrogen cannot undergo chemical reactions. If cheap materials substitute for platinum it would not be a safe and successful way
