The article states that the fuel cell engines have several advantages over internal- combustion engines and probably soon will replace them, and provides three reasons of supports. However, the professor explains that the problems of the internal combustion engines which is mentioned in the article is true, but the fuel cell engines will not solve these problems. She refutes each of the Author’s reasons.
First, the reading claims that the internal- combustion engines relies on petroleum, which is a finite resource, while the fuel cells ones depend on Hydrogen which is infinite resource and available, The professor opposes this point by telling us that the hydrogen isn’t easily available for use as the article mentioned. According to the professor the hydrogen exist as part of a complex compound, which is the h2o, but to be used in the fuel cell engines it should be in its pure shape. She adds that the hydrogen needs to go through many processes to reach the pure level and needs to be cold to a very low degree and that’s hard to achieve.
Second, the article asserts that hydrogen base fuel will solve the pollution problems that caused by the internal combustion engines. On the other hand, the professor contends that using the hydrogen will not solve the pollution problems. She adds that the hydrogen needs a purification process to be used, and the factory used a lot of energy to do that. These energy cause pollution as much as the cars who use petroleum do.
Third, the article posits that people will spend less when they use hydrogen- base fuel engines. The professor refutes this point by saying that using this type of engines will not be as a cost saving. She adds that the hydrogen-base fuel engines need platinum, a rare compound, to work. All other materials couldn’t replace the platinum action, that’s why it will cost more when using the hydrogen- base fuel.
