The reading and the lecture are both about working day of employee, which is the day of employees want to work four-day a week from five-day a week work. The author of the reading believes that the four-day week have benefit for company and employee. The lecture casts doubt on the claims, made in the article, he thinks that the four-day week is disadvantage for organize and full-timer.

It is mentioned that the four-day employees can effectively work done on same project as the five-day employees and they can reduce operation cost, which is they are paid only eighty percent of the normal rate. This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says the company has less earning for the four-day employees. Furthermore, he argues less workweek employees are more addional cost such as training, medical benefits and computer equipment, so the company do not get benefit from them.
Secondly, the author contends that the unemployment rate is decreased. The article notes the four-day employees have to hire more employee to keep the performance of company, which is the company recruit new employee and subcontract. She suggests the company have not more job available. She elaborates on this by mentioning that the company do not want to recruit more employee, which is they want the four-day employees work as the five-day employees.
Finally, the author states that the four-day employees have time to improve their quality life. The article established that the four-day employees have more time to stay with family and rest with them, so they can work productive more. The lecture on the other hand, posits that the four-day employees do less productive work. She puts forth the idea that a four-day workweek decrease performance of working and losing job’s stability.
In conclusions, the lecturer effectively casts doubt on all of the claims and theories presented in the reading.
