TPO-04 - Integrated Writing Task Endotherms are animals such as modern birds and mammals that keep their body temperatures constant. For instance, humans are endotherms and maintain an internal temperature of 37°C, no matter whether the environment is wa

The article discussses dinosaur is endothermic animal and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor states that many scientists aruged this article and she refutes each of the author's reasons.

First, the reading posits that dinosaur fossils have been discovered in polar regions whic suggests only endothermic animals can tolerate in such cold climate. The professor refute this point by explaining that during that time, polar regions was much more warmer during the year. so, many not endothermic animals could have live there. She also says that if polar regions are cold, dinosaur would have migrate or hibernate as many not endothermic would do. So, fossils that have been found in polar regions do not proof dinosaur is endothermic.

Second, the article states that the dinosaur's leg position sustained physcial activities, such as running which supports the idea of dinosaur being endothermic. On the other hand, the professor explains that legs position under the body do not necessarly functioning for physical activity, however, it could be to support the body weight. Dinosaur is large in size, so the position of legs would be weight supportor and not for running purpose. She concludes that dinosaur is not endothermic.

Third, the reading states that fossilized bones of dinosaur usually dense with Haversian canals. The professor opposes this point by saying that dinosaure do have Harversian canals, but dinosaur bones also have growth riings. She explains these rings is evidence that dinosaur stop growing or grow slowly, which support the idea that not endothermic animals can not grow well in coller climate. In addition to one of the characteristic of not endothermic animals is fluctations in growing cycle from rapidly growing to slowly or stop growing. If it grow rapidlt, it would only in warm climate.
