As far as the sources are concerned both the passage and the lecture discuss "great houses" which is convincing to explain how they were used.
First, the reading passage says that Chaco structures were residental which used by hundred of people that was same of some cities such as Taos, New Mexico while the listening passage says that from ourside it appears like apartment yet from inside many people survived there according to fire places that there were five fire places for each family cooked their cooking.
Second, unlike the speaker Chaco structures were utilized to store food supplies because of grain maize which can serve long-term and great houses size was convenient. The professor rejects this idea.
Third, in contrast to speaker's points of view, the author's point out that houses maked use of as ceremonial centers . Hence there was a close house which called Pueblo Alto had a proof that was a ceremonial houses. And also some Native American cultures saved that they ate festive meals. However, the speaker disagrees with this point of view.
