The articles states that memoirs of Chevalier de seingalt are distorted and skeptical, and provides three reasons of support. The professor, however, explains that the memoir are based of true accounts and refutes each of the reasons.
First, the reading claims that the wealthy life style of him, written in memoir, is agnostic. However, the professor counter this points by saying that however, he didn't had cash but had many property for sell.Further, he states that there is many evidence that people used to give lavish party during eighteenth, and he, not having cash, borrowed a loan from mistress which can be paid after selling property.
Second, The article posits that his conversation with Voltaire is controversial. In contrast, the professor says that his memoir with Voltaire is reliable. According to professor, he used to write everything he remembered everyday, in notes and his memoirs was verified by witness presented during that time.
Third, the reading says that his escape activities, written in memoir, are doubtful. The professor confutes this point by saying that even their were other powerful prisoner than Chevalier, they couldn't get out by bribing the guard. We also learned that the ceiling of prison where chevalier was resided was amended after his escape.
