First of all, the author points out that some critics say that many of the things he said was not accurate. It is mentioned that he actually created many events to prove to people that his life was good. This point is mentioned by the lecturer. He says that the stories, he put in his story was indeed true. Furthermore, he argues that his life was indeed very eventful.

Secondly the author contends that the critics are skeptical of the conversations with the author Voltaire. The lecturer contends this argument. The article notes, that the conversations happened many years before the memoir. The lecturer rebuts this argument. The Lecturer notes that it is true. He says the whole conversation was heard by a witness, making sure about everything they said. Chevalier also had a habit of recording every conversation he has ever had.

Finally, the author notes that it is crazy, about his story of escaping from prison. The article notes that, he wrote that he used a piece of metal to dig a hole out through the roof. Critics think he may have bribed some people to help him. He had a lot of known people who could have helped him. The lecturer on the other hand points out that there was construction. It is said that on government paper had a report of an ongoing construction, which would have helped him escape.
