The reading and the lecture are both about cars and how they can change cars into using hydrogen-based fuel. The author of the reading believes that changing it into hydrogen will cost less and be more accessible. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article. She states that hydrogen would actually cost more and actually not the solution to the problem.
First of all, the author states that it would be a lot easier to get hydrogen. It is mentioned that you can just get hydrogen from water. This pont is challenged by the lecturer. She mentions that hydrogen may be in water, but it is very hard to physically get it. Furthermore, she argues that hydrogen needs to be in liquid state and has to use a machine with negative 253 degrees which is extremely hard to get.
Secondly the author points out that hydrogen based cells are attractive because they solve many of the world problems with pollution. The article notes that gas would pollute by a lot, but hydrogen would not pollute anything. The lecturer rebuts this argument. She suggests that hydrogen indeed does pollute. She elaborates on this by mentioning that the car would not be polluting, but the factories making this would because purifying the hydrogen will need to burn a lot of coal and gas.
Finally, the author states that it would cost less. The article establishes that you can have much more hydrogen as fuel than just regular gas. The lecturer on the other hand says that it is hard for hydrogen to be cheap. She puts forth on the idea by stating that the machine that needs to be use is made from platinum; thus this machine is too expensive to have.
