The United Kingdom now then Great Britain has been a rich excavation treasure for archaelogists. Things excavated include buildings, tools and other art from stone age to the era of beginning of industrial age. Twientieth century faced many hurdles in the field of archeology, which was very much keen in the study of those old artifacts. On account of limitations, three major factors were responsible for the limitations in Britain.
Contruction Projects.
In 1950, construction sites came across many valuable artifacts while excavating the construction site for builders but were ignored due to consistent construction project building. Many valuable and important excavated artifacts were destroyed during the process resulting into less research study material for archeologists.
Financial Support.
Less financial aid provided only by government, proved to be another key factor faced by researchers in that field. Only limited number of excavations were done with fistful result in hands.
Less Jobs.
Availability of few jobs in the archeology department of colleges and government agencies, made archeology students to opt for another filed as their career. Even the researchers in this field were left unpaid for their research work. But, in 1990 new rules declared by British government improved the situation for archaeologists. New rules for excavating the construction site for artifacts and preserving them, while maintaining document were made. Also, the construction excavated site were asked to pay the amount for excavations initially followed by preservation process through government. Researchers interested in this field were paid sufficient funds for their work, theories and research.
