Tpo-16 : Summarise the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they case doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecture are both about the problems that the United Kingdom archaeologists have found during their work to preserve the artifacts. The writer suggests that there are three major reasons why, in fact the science of archaeology was faced with serious problems. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the reading. He thinks that none of the arguments are convincing.
First and foremost, the professor explains that before the construction company start the building process, the site must be inspected by professionals. If it happens that the site is a cultural place, then the archaeologists would complete their task before any other action is taken. Therefore, this is not a problem for missing any possibility of finding cultural sites. This opposes the reading, which states that many precious artifacts were lost to construction projects.
Secondly, the lecturer points out that archaeologists are paid by construction company. This financial support is a new source that has enabled the scientists to work on a fare greater range of sites, so that they could find more artifacts. Nevertheless, this contradicts reading, which claims that the financial support is not adequate for their research, and that has lead to lack of investigations in a vast areas.
Finally, the teacher disagrees with reading's suggestion that nowadays it is difficult to pursue the career of archaeology because jobs available at universities and a few government agencies are limited. The professor opposes this point by mentioning that all stages of research for artifacts in the historic sites are on itself new opportunities for adults who would like to advance in their career. Moreover, the construction companies will pay for this new jobs, so the chances are higher than it were before. As a result. the profession in archaeology is thriving in Britani.
