The reading and lecture are both about the genetic modification. The author of reading claims the positive impact of planting genetically modified tress, whereas the lecture defend himself as by projecting certain reasons that cast doubt on the reading.

First of all, the author of reading posit that the genetically modified tree resistant to the adverse disease that normally non-genetic tree are more susceptible. However, the lecture disputes that the genetically tree might resist to one condition as they were modified to sustain in those environment. He further adds the information by providing example, genetically modified tree are uniform and if they are exposed to new environment for which they are not trained they will likely to wiped out.

Secondly, the author of the reading states that genetically modified tree bring economical advantages as they grow faster than other tree and produce large number of fruits. Nevertheless, the lecture refutes that there is a hidden cost in genetically planted tree. For an instance, farmer had to pay for the seeds to the company and they cannot further plant the seeds that are collected through an existed tree. For planting the new seeds they had to pay to company every time they grew new tree.

Finally, the author of reading says that the genetically modified tree prevent over exploitation. He suggest that the genetically tree helps to improve the condition of deforestation and help to provide shelter for the rare species. On the other hand, the lecture believe that genetically exploited tree grows aggressively and compete with the same environment as does the by the non-genetically plants, He thinks that genetically modified tree absorbs more soils, minerals which eventually hamper the natural growth of non-genetically planted trees.
