TPO-24 - Integrated Writing Task Animal fossils usually provide very little opportunity to study the actual animal tissues, because in fossils the animals' living tissues have been largely replaced by minerals. Thus, scientists were very excited recently

The reading passage present three inferences of those materials found in T.Rex's leg bone seems to be blood vessels, red blood cell and collagen matrix, separately. However, the lecturer poses some evidences against those inferences.

To begin with, the reading suggests that those many small branching channels may be location for blood vessels, but the lecturer holds that the hollow in bones may not for blood vessels, which may be created by some bacteria. Therefore, the soft substance may be the residue of bacteria colonies.

In addition, the reading holds that those spheres may be the remains of red blood cells, but it is contradicted to point out in lecture that those spheres were located the same place in other primitive animals. However, those primitive animals did not have a red blood cell. As a result, those spheres may be some red mineral.

Finally, it is said in the reading that the dinosaur leg bone contained collagen, a fibrous protein. On the contrary, the lecturer argues that collagen cannot be found in the fossil from over 100 thousand years ago. Collagen cannot last for such a long history, because the earliest collagen found in the fossil is from 70 million years ago. Therefore, the collagen may come from the recent source like the researchers' hands.
